Kota Kinabalu: Compound archer Fatin Nurfatehan Mat Salleh has been shortlisted for the Laos SEA Games this December by the National Archery Association of Malaysia.

Paul Leong, the Sabah Archery Association Secretary informed Express Sports during a training session at the Likas archery range recently.

According to him, the State body is extremely proud of Fatin's achievements thus far and they hope she will continue to improve and make the final squad this December.

Meanwhile, the UiTM student continues her winning streak after the break of the fasting month when she bagged two gold medals at the third circuit of the national archery competition which was held in Melaka late last month.

She won the gold in the Individual Olympic round by defeating college mate Nurhidayah Abd Latip with a score of 114-107 in the final.

The other gold came in the Team Olympic round where Nurhidayah and her teamed up with Nurhayati Al-Madihah Hashim and claimed the gold with a 207-197 victory over ATM B team.

She also won an individual silver medal in the 50m event during the competition.

Since joining the national elite programme in April, the former SM Lok Yuk student had been a revelation and managed to win strings of medals in all the competitions she has participated so far.

She first won two gold medals on her international debut in the third leg of the Asian Archery Grand Prix competition in July.

She followed that up two weeks later with another winning performance at the UPM Archery Open by winning two more gold medals.

In August she won a further four gold medals in the Sarawak Outdoor Archery Open.

Fatin is currently sitting for her examination at the UiTM campus in Pahang where she is pursuing her degree in Sports Science and Recreation.
