Kota Kinabalu: Two foreign teams will be among five local outfits that will be competing at the Borneo Football Cup 2009 Men's Open here this weekend.

Vipers FC from Singapore and Korean FC, joined Finexsys FC, from Sarawak, will compete against local teams Akbul FC, KK Pro's, Unimaju FC, Briged Sabah PGA and GT Strike to win the cup.

The teams are drawn into two groups and will play in a round robin format today, before competing in a play off on Sunday.

The tournament is offering RM5,000 in prize money plus trophies to the winners.

According to Borneo Sports and Adventure Holidays Managing Director, Scott Ollerenshaw, who is the tournament organiser, all teams will play for 17 minutes per half with the whole tournament being officiated by Safa officials.

The junior category for this year's Borneo Football Cup was completed in October and was a great success, where Australian teams competed.

There will also be some Women's categories for this tournament, which Scott said would be introduced in December, next year.

The former Rhinos star also said that for next year the junior categories will be 12 team tournaments, while the men's and women's open plus the Borneo Sevens will all have 16 teams competing.
