Kota Kinabalu: Taman Padi View residents in Penampang are upset over trailers transporting heavy loads of large concrete pipes through the residential area.
MP Hiew King Cheu said the residents complained the trailers had been ferrying the pipes to a construction site at the back of the housing area over the past few days.
The residents claimed the trailers caused the area to be dusty and that they were also worried the activity might damage the road. The residents are very angry that the Penampang District Council did not heed their protest, he claimed, in a statement here, Saturday.
The construction site involved the building of apartment buildings comprising high-rise flats near to the existing houses, he added.
"The house owners are worried about the development and that piling work will damage their new houses," Hiew said. "The residents are demanding a meeting with the District Officer and the Council."
"The Penampang Council should immediately take action to get the developer to build their own access road," he said, adding the District Officer, in a phone call, told him he would look into the matter.
