Published on: Friday, December 11, 2009

Kota Kinabalu: The Chinese Visa Application Service Centre would be officially opened in Kuala Lumpur on Dec 16.

Subsequently, additional administration fees would be charged for Chinese visa applications, namely RM28 for regular pieces ready for collection on the fourth business day, RM100 for express pieces ready for collection on the third business day and RM140 for rush pieces ready for collection on the same day.

"We may open the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in East Malaysia in the future," a statement from the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China said, Thursday.

"Till then, all Chinese visa applications will still be accepted by the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Kuching and the application fees will stand as before.

"Due to the above-mentioned situation, according to international practice and related articles signed by both the Chinese and Malaysian governments, we would like to reiterate that the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Kuching only accepts Chinese visa applications from East Malaysia."
