CM: Go for high-performance projects to boost 1Malaysia

Published on: Sunday, December 13, 2009

Tuaran: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman has called on leaders and agencies to implement high performance development projects and services.

He said this was vital to ensure the success of the 1Malaysia concept mooted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak which carries the tagline of 'People First, Performance Now'.

"We are aware of the importance of the given allocation to be channelled efficiently and effectively, especially to intensify efforts towards rural development, improving educational infrastructures and eradicating hardcore poverty.

"We want to give the best for the people," he said when opening the 1Malaysia Fest, here, Saturday.

Musa said the 1Malaysia concept was aimed, among others, at strengthening unity among the multi-racial people of the country, based on mutual values and understanding.

He said the 1Malaysia concept had a very deep and significant meaning in the context of Sabah as the State comprised 32 ethnic groups who were able to live in peace and harmony.

Even the Prime Minister admitted and recognised Sabah as the best example of the 1Malaysia concept, noted Musa.

On Sabah, he said he was satisfied with its progress and rapid development, especially here.

He said Tuaran had contributed much by becoming an industrial district with its Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park and having numerous educational and skills training centres.

The district was one of Sabah's popular tourist attractions and it was also a seafood paradise, he explained.

Musa said the development in Tuaran not only could facilitate the socio-economic development of local residents but was also capable of producing high quality and skilled human capital to make the State Government's development agenda a success.
