Kuala Lumpur: Implementation of the B5 biodiesel programme, a combination of five per cent biofuel and 95 per cent diesel, is targeted for next year upon approval from the Cabinet, Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Tan Sri Bernard Dompok said Thursday.
He said the matter would be decided through discussions at the Cabinet.
"The B5 will require an increase of 4.5 sen per litre. The question is, who will bear this cost?" he said after the launch of the "Guidebook on On-Site Identification of Some Common Timbers Used in Malaysia" here Thursday.
To ensure that blending of the B5 biodiesel is done properly, an expenditure of RM200 million is required, according to Dompok.
He said the target for implementation of the programme was the central region of Peninsular Malaysia. - Bernama
