Unusual reflexology centres

Published on: Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Penampang: Three foot reflexology centres here were given warnings for renovating their premises to provide for rooms without approval from the local authority.

The operation led by Abdul Kahar Mohd Idris from the monitoring unit of Local Government and Housing Ministry, together with District Council's enforcement department, focused on the Beverley Hills Plaza area.

He said the centre operators violated their business licence conditions by renovating the premises with rooms that could also be locked from inside.

"Some of the rooms are even furnished with mattresses and bathrooms É the availability of such facilities could lead to manipulation by irresponsible operators to carry out vice activities under the guise of reflexology centres," he said.

Abdul Kahar said the unit had advised the operators to rectify the problem and submit their renovation plans to the District Council within two weeks.

Stern action would be taken against operators who fail to do so in accordance with the relevant legislation, particularly the building by-law.

"We will demolish the illegal structures and cancel their licences if they ignore the warning given to them," he added.
