Kota Kinabalu: Immigration enforcement officers detained 29 Filipinos, including 16 women, for misusing their social visit pass in an operation carried out in beauty and reflexology centres in the city area, Tuesday.

The Ops Negeri focused on beauty and relexology centres in Centre Point Shopping Complex and Warisan Square, here, after receiving complaints from public that there are many foreign women, mostly Filipinas, offering massage services in the area.

Women's groups also complained that many of these "Filipina dolls" were engaged in vice and possessed work permits, including for plantation work, but were engaged in massage services in spas and so-called reflexology centres.

According to a statement by the Immigration Department, the modus operandi of foreigners carrying such activities is by standing near the entrance of shopping complexes.

"They aim for male customers by distributing pamphlets on body massage promotion.

In the operation, we detained 29 Filipinos for misusing their pass."

Meanwhile, the department detained 277 illegal immigrants, including children in two separate locations.

The operation was carried out in squatters and an abandoned building in Bukit Nenas, here, as well as squatters in Kingfisher.

All detained were brought to Temporary Custody Centre in Menggatal and would be investigated for further action.
