Kota Kinabalu: Police arrested three local men, including a 15-year-old school dropout, and seized several tools in connection with housebreaking activities in Luyang here.

City Police Chief, ACP Ahmad Sofi Zakaria, said police approached a Proton Iswara at 2.30am, parked in Taman Sri Borneo, Luyang.

"However, the driver sped away with the car. Police then gave a chase for about two kilometres and managed to stop the car in Taman Jasmine, Luyang where police detained the three suspects.

"Upon inspection, police found three iron cutters, two pairs of pliers, four screwdrivers, two knives, a hammer and a pair of gloves as well as a bunch of keys believed used for housebreaking."

The trio, aged between 15 and 20, were detained under Section 353 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum imprisonment of two years or fine, or both, on conviction.

Meanwhile, police also detained two drug pushers, including a 30-year-old man from Penang, and seized more than 1kg of ketamine in separate locations here, recently.

Ahmad Sofi said police raided a house at 4.30pm on March 12 in Taman Century Baru, Jalan Penampang.

"Upon inspection, police found 12 packets of ketamine weighing 120gm worth about RM5,000 and detained a 33-year-old local man," he said, Monday, adding that police also seized four handphones and RM119 cash.

Ahmad Sofi said the next day police stopped a Proton Waja driven by a 30-year-old man from Penang at 5.50pm around Taman Iramanis, Jalan Lintas, Luyang.

"Police also discovered 20 packets of ketamine weighing about 1kg worth about RM25,000 inside the car and seized RM136 cash, two handphones as well as the car from the suspect.

"This is the biggest arrest so far and both suspects also tested positive for drugs," he said, adding that the amount of drugs seized could supply more than 500 addicts.

The suspects would be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty upon conviction.

"Police believe the drugs were brought into the district from other states," Ahmad Sofi said.
