551 views on 1M'sia for PM from school

Penampang: Students of SM Datuk Peter Mojuntin have voiced out their views on 1Malaysia through 551 letters addressed to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

According to the school's Senior Administration Officer, Faye Mogindol, the letters were collected through a two-week programme organised by the school, which involved participation from Forms One to Five students.

"This is to show our support over the 1Malaysia concept which was introduced by our Prime Minister, and to tell him what our little ones' perceptions on the slogan are," she said, Wednesday.

She said the event was organised to further promote the culture of unity among the school children to open their minds to understand each other regardless of cultural background.

The event was jointly organised by Pos Malaysia Bhd, the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission, Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and the Sabah Education Department.

Pos Malaysia Bhd's Support Service head, Soimon Sinit, said the event was also held to remind students that despite the advancement in communication technology today, mail corresponding is still a vital means of interaction.

"These days, young people interact through various ways like texting through SMS, email, chat rooms, handphones and so on.

However more exclusive matter still requires postal services such as on this event," he said.

He said it is important to support the effort shown by the youngsters to ponder over the 1Malaysia concept, as they are the ones who will be the leaders of the future.

Also present were Human Development Sector Chief of the Sabah Education Department, Jamigul Datu Salin and Assistant Director of Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission, Karmila Amirkhan.
