Ipex photo contest is back

Kota Kinabalu: The Ipex 2011 photography contest is back for the second time since its debut in 2009, in conjunction with the upcoming Ipex 2011.The competition, with the theme "Colours of Our City", is organised jointly by Sabah Chapter of Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) and Sabah Art and Photographic Society.

Ipex 2011 organising chairman, Yong Ming Cheong, said the competition is to encourage Malaysian photography enthusiasts to also focus on pictures of architectural subjects.

"The images must include elements of architecture in any form or magnitude sufficient to convince us that the shots relate to our objective of promoting architecture," he said.

The contest is open to all Malaysians and all shots taken must be in Sabah and Labuan only.

The first prize offers RM3,000 cash, second prize RM1,000 and third prize RM500.

There are also 10 consolation prizes of RM150 each. All winners will also receive a certificate each.

"We advise participants to strictly adhere to the set rules and regulations which appear on the entry forms," he said.

The entry fee is RM10 per entry and the closing date is April 5, 2011.

Judging is on April 12, 2011.

Entry forms can be obtained from the PAM Sabah Chapter Secretariat at Lot 5 and 6, 3rd Floor, Damai Plaza, Kota Kinabalu (Tel: 088-232524).

Ipex, which stands for International Property Exhibition, is the most established property exhibition in Sabah since its inception in the 1980s.

The official opening ceremony of Ipex 2011 is on April 21, 2011 at the Sabah Trade Centre.
