Peak Nam Toong temple celebrations

Kota Kinabalu: The Peak Nam Toong Temple at Taman Fortuna here will be organising two special celebrations on February 8 and 10.The first is in conjunction with the birthday of the Qing Sui Zhu Shi and Chinese New Year, while the second is to pay homage to the Jade Emperor, who is the reigning ruler of the heaven, according to the Taoist belief.In a statement Sunday, organising chairman Chong Kiam Fah said the first celebration tomorrow (Tuesday) will start at 6pm with the serving of a buffet dinner for the devotees and guests.

This would be followed by a host of entertainment programmes including dragon, unicorn and lion dance performances, Diabolo performance and presentation of songs and dances. The temple committee will also distribute "angpau" to children. The second celebration on Feb 10 (Thursday) will start at 7pm with entertainment programmes, culminating in the paying of homage to the Jade Emperor at midnight. The ritual will feature the offering of various popular Chinese dishes and delicatessens, including roasted pork, mien xian (fine noodles) and hard-boiled eggs.
