Surprise flash floods in KB

Kota Belud: Ten villages within the Tempasuk area were hit by flash floods due to heavy rain, here, for the first time on Sunday.Six vehicles were swept away by flood waters but no casualties were reported and no villagers were relocated.State Food Industry and Agriculture Assistant Minister Datuk Musbah Jamli said Kota Belud had never been hit by flash floods and the sudden natural disaster had caused villagers to suffer losses.

The Tempasuk Assemblyman said the incident had also affected several roads and public facilities as well as paddy fields and plants were destroyed. "We are waiting for full report on the incident from the Drainage and Irrigation Department as well as Agriculture Department."During his visit here, Musbah also visited 71-year-old Gumiging Langkun, who is bed-ridden, at his house in Kg Timbang. Musbah said Gumiging was supposed to receive Hardcore Poor Housing Programme aid, adding he would highlight the problems faced by his people to Community Welfare Department.
