King receives 30 birthday cakes

Kuala Lumpur: An assortment of 30 cakes were put up for display at the Throne Room, Istana Negara here Friday in conjunction with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin's birthday today (Saturday).

The cake fest, which was graced by Tuanku Mizan and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah, is an annual event held for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's birthday and Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Among the creations displayed was a sweet almond and chocolate cake weighing 105kgs which boasted a Malaysian harmony theme from the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, as well as a fruit cake in the shape of a Dutch ship from Boustead Hotels and Resort, which weighed 45kgs.

Hotels which presented confections for the celebration were Federal Hotels International, Ri-Yaz Heritage Marina Resort and Spa, Hotel Berjaya Times Square Kuala Lumpur, Hotel Kosmopolito International Group, Hotel Holiday Villa and Suites Subang, Seri Pacific Kuala Lumpur, Hotel Grand Bluewave Shah Alam, Hotel One World, Hotel Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, Palace of the Golden Horses, the Hilton hotel chain, Hotel Maya, Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur and Park Royal Kuala Lumpur.

Also contributing were Hotel International Kuala Lumpur, Hotel Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur, Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa, Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, The Zon Regency Hotel by The Sea, Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur, Hotel Istana, YTL Luxury Hotel and Resort Impiana KLCC Hotel and Spa, and Crowne Plaza Mutiara Kuala Lumpur, Berjaya Universiti College of Hospitality, Universiti Teknologi Mara and Malaysia Airlines. - Bernama
