Kota Kinabalu: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is confident the people in Sabah will continue to support the Barisan Nasional (BN) because the Government has brought much development to the State.He said this included roads, water and electricity, among others."(So) I am confident that Sabah will remain with BN when the time comes because we have brought much development to the State," he said at the 1Malaysia dinner at Padang Bandaran, Wednesday, attended by about 10,000 people from all walks of life.

Another proof, he said, is what Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman had said earlier that the majority of the people in Sabah rejected the Bersih illegal assembly that is planned for July 9.He said the firm cooperation between the Federal and State Government under Musa had led to many successes. Citing the Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) proposed coal-fired power plant in Lahad Datu, he said the people in Sabah initially rejected it and requested for alternative fuel to be utilised.Because of the people's demand, he said, the Government postponed the implementation of the proposal.The matter was discussed and studied thoroughly and about three months ago, a group of ministers from Sabah led by Musa came to see him.

During the meeting, he said they discussed at length about the issue and came to a common agreement that the proposed plant be replaced with the LNG-powered plant."This means from our decision, we can satisfy the people and at the same time assure electricity supply for the people and for development," he said.

Najib said such cooperation between the State and Federal Governments should be maintained where it discussed issues and matters together."And I believe that Sabah will continue to progress to transform the national and state," he said.Unlike the opposition, Najib said the people could never hold to the promises made by the opposition. "The opposition does not have any powerÉtheir only weapon is making promisesÉ not only the moon and stars but also the galaxy." Nevertheless, he wanted the BN to win because the people like the BN and not because of election fraud.When the BN faced the opposition in the Sarawak election recently, it gave the people the power of choice to determine who they want to form the Government.He recalled and noted in his visit to Sabah after assuming the Prime Minister's office in 2009 that Sabah is the best example of the 1Malaysia concept where more than 45 ethnic and sub-ethnic groups live in harmony without any division.To this, he said that the philosophy as well as 1Malaysia concept and principles are the best formula to bring Malaysia forward as a nation with existing peace, stability and unity both in mind and action.If this is achieved and Malaysia moves as a family and as a team, not only Sabah but also the whole country would excel more with confidence."I don't want that after I introduce the 1Malaysia concept, the concept become a slogan or political rhetoric or ceremonial in nature."The concept was produced based on several principles, namely that we must be inclusive where all policies and programmes must have the interest of all ethnic and sub ethic groups in the country regardless if the ethnic is big or small," he said.He said that everyone must feel that BN really fights for the people's future and fate.Apart from inclusivity, he said, the concept must also pillared with social justice so that not only those in urban but also rural areas as well as those living in condos, longhouses and villages and the old and young feel the policy is fair to everyone.On other developments, Najib said those with talents must be given the opportunities to enhance the abilities they are endowed with."We don't want people in the interior to think they have been sidelined," he said adding that the policies should work both in urban and in every corner of the country.
