CM to grace KK Torch Run on October 9

Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman will grace the KK Torch Run, organised in conjunction with the 28th National Chinese Cultural Festival 2011 on Oct 9, at Lintasan Deasoka in Gaya Street here.Organising chairperson of the cultural festival, Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen, said she was indeed very thankful to the Chief Minister for indicating his presence at the KK Torch Run.

She said with Musa giving his support to the Chinese community by lighting the torch for the cultural festival in the 1Malaysia concept, it will definitely make the event much merrier and memorable.

The across-the-state Torch Run, which was started in Lahad Datu on May 8 this year, followed by Keningau, Tenom, Sandakan and Tawau recently and going into Ranau, Papar and Tuaran in the coming weekends, will have its grand finale here on Oct 9.

The run is organised to promote the Chinese culture to the people and to bring to them awareness of this heritage cultural festival.

Organised by the Federation of Malaysian Chinese Associations and hosted by the Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah, the festival is an annual event rotated among the states and this year, it will be held at the Likas Sports Stadium on Nov 11.

Musa will attend the official opening ceremony of this cultural festival which will be declared open by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

The programme for the cultural festival includes a cultural village, food court, cultural singing and dancing performances. Sabah Kota Belud-born international singer, Gary Chaw will also perform during the evening.

Wong said admission to the cultural festival on Nov 11 is free and she welcomes every one to come and join in this grand event.
