Sabah FA set to sign two Australian imports

Kota Kinabalu: Two Australian import players are likely to be officially signed by the Sabah FA this Wednesday.Team Manager, Hj Shariman Abdullah said the two players - attacking midfielder Brandan Gan and striker Michale Baird are still undergoing medical tests at the moment."The results so far has been positive and once everything is cleared, the official signing ceremony should be held this Wednesday."

The 23-year-old Brandan whose father is a Malaysian from Negeri Sembilan last played for Bonnyrigg White Eagles FC in Sidney.He first attracted the local media's attention last year when he admitted his interest to play for Malaysia.He was voted New South Wales Premier League Player in his debut senior season in 2008.Michael, on the other hand, is an out and out striker who once represented Australia in the World Cup qualifying rounds and has played in the Romanian league before. His last stint was with the Central Coast Mariners FC.

With an almost done deal for the duo, the Sabah squad has more or less filled up their two imports quota.Meanwhile, the Sabah Super League squad began their first day of training at the Likas Complex on Monday.

All the players who were retained from last season were there. New recruits Fariss Azlan Mat Isa and Ronny Harun were also present together with the players who had been shortlisted during the recent open trial by Justin Ganai.Shariman said the players would most likely be given two weeks to impress Justin."I think two weeks should be good enough for them to convince Justin on what they can contribute to the team."Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Meanwhile, the coaches and back room staff to support Justin in the new season will be decided on November 20.The new season will also see the Super League and the President Cup players given the identical training programme so as not to cause any hiccups once the President Cup players are promoted to the senior team.
