Lahad Datu: SAPP assistant secretary general, Datu Shuib Datu Mutalib wants to know what has become of 110,053 hectares (271,831 acres) of Felda land in Tungku, Lahad Datu.He said based on parliament reports, Felda land in Sabah amounts to about 119,765 hectares (295,817 acres) with Felda Sahabat ,Tungku, Lahad Datu 88,528 hectares (217,798 acres) while, Felda Umas, Tawau some 31,182 hectares (77,021 acres), all planted with oil palm.

"The question here is, if, all the pioneers were given the 6.07 hectares (15 acres) per person, the 1,600 pioneers will utilise 9,712 hectares (24,000 acres).

"What happened to the 110,053 hectares (271,831 acres)?"

He said during the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister Department, Datuk Ahmad Maslan's visit to Sabah in June 2011 he claimed that there is no plan to divide the lands to new pioneers.

He also announced that the Felda land amounts to 100,000 hectares with a total of 1,600 pioneers.

According to him the existence of Felda in Sabah since 20 years ago should have brought about an overwhelming economic transformation of the people of Sabah, especially the people of Tungku.

"More Sabahan pioneers should be given the opportunity to participate in Felda schemes if they want to see improvements to Sabahans' livelihood," he said.
