Kota Kinabalu: A former convict who came to hospital bleeding in his anus was remanded by police on suspicion of drug possession.City Police Chief ACP Ahmad Sofi Zakaria said the 45-year-old suspect went to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for medical treatment at 10.15pm on Jan 21, claiming he had swallowed money.
But hospital staff who did a x-ray on the suspect found suspicious images of two objects in his stomach and immediately contacted the police.
The police believe the two packets contain syabu, weighing 9.4gm with an estimated market price of RM2,800.
Ahmad Sofi said the suspect has previous records for drug-related offences and also tested positive for syabu.
The suspect who had no documents claimed he had swallowed money to avoid being robbed while serving time in jail.
But after he could not pass it out. he decided to swallow other things to force the issue, he claimed, adding that also did not work.
Ahmad Sofi said police are still probing the case.
Meanwhile, a 28-year-old salesman was remanded for possession of drugs at 5.45pm on Jan 20.
A total of 18 Eramine-5 pills weighing 5.4gm worth RM200, 12 packets believed to contain Ketamine weighing 13.5gm worth RM 2,500 and one packet of ganja weighing 1.2gm worth RM60 was confiscated from the suspect.
The suspect was tested positive for Ketamine.
