Keningau: Star Sabah Chairman Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan denied accusations by some Barisan Nasional leaders that he is causing disunity among the Kadazan-DusunMurut (KDM) community in Sabah through the setting up of Sarawak-based State Reform Party (Star) branch in Sabah.Instead, he said, the setting up of KDM Malaysia by the Sabah Umno leaders was proof that they are the ones actually causing disunity among the KDM community in the State.
"It is also the Federal Government that has disunited the KDM in Sabah through the establishment of PBS, Upko and PBRS so as to divide and rule," he said at a Borneo Tea Party at Kg Dangulad, here.
He claimed that some 600 Umno members here have joined Star, including 115 from Kg Dangulad, a BN fortress for many years.
He said the rest were from the township here, Keningau station and those staying along Sungai Pegalan.
"The people's aspiration in Sabah to have a new government after the 13th General Election will not be achieved if they still feel fear to make positive changes.
"That is why Sabah people need to unite and cast votes for STAR and its component parties in the coming general election," he said.
Also present were Star deputy chairman Dr Nicholas Guntobon, Sabah Star Youth Chief Hasmin Azroy Abdullah. Sabah Star Wanita chief Melenie Arnold and other officials.
