Kota Kinabalu: Top State women shuttler Amelia Anscelly is ready to return to the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) fold again after a two-year lapse. The double specialist who left BAM back in 2010 is among several women players in the country recently called up by the national body to attend a one-month trial to select players to beef up the present squad. When contacted on Wednesday, where she has just started her first day of trial together with fellow Sabahan Soong Fei Cho from Lahad Datu in Bukit Kiara, she said it is the love of the sport that she decided to accept the offer to attend the trial.ADVERTISEMENT Despite training on her own since she left the national body, the shuttler had been doing great in several international meets and putting most national players to shame with her results. At the recent Yonex-Sunrise Malaysia Open GP Gold 2012 held at the Stadium Bandaraya in Johor last week, Amelia and her partner Mohd Razif Abd Latif made it to the quarterfinal stage before losing to eventual runners-up Fadhilah Irfan/Anggraini Weni from Indonesia. She and Soong also emerged as runners-up in the women doubles event of the Vietnam International Challenge held last month. Meanwhile, Sabah Badminton Association President Datuk Maijol Mahap congratulated the pair for their achievement and hoped the duo will impress the selection panel and make it to the national squad.ADVERTISEMENT He also hoped that others especially the juniors would follow the examples shown by the duo and train harder and make it to the top.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
