15 Tawau hulksters for Mr Sabah Championship

Tawau: Tawau team is set to give tough competition in the Mr Sabah 2012 Competition to be held in conjunction with the State level Bodybuilding Championship at the Tawau Community Hall on June 30.

Its organising chairman, Lim Teck Kiong said a total of 15 athletes from Tawau have confirmed their participation in the championship which will be held for the first time in the district, adding that they would participate in all 12 categories.

According to him, a total of 13 teams from nine districts comprising of 80 contestants will be participating in the competition, however these did not include participation from the Police, Fire and Rescue, Prisons Department and Kota Kinabalu City Hall.

He said the Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Peter Pang En Yin will officiate the championship, which offers an attractive overall prize worth RM13,000 including the Champion of Champion Award.

He explained that winners of all 12 categories will represent Sabah at the Mr Malaysia competition.

The 12 categories are Junior Light, Junior Welter, Master, Light Fly Weight, Fly Weight, Bantam Weight, Light Weight, Light Middle Weight, Middle Weight, Light Heavy Weight, Heavy Weight and Champion of Champion.

"Tickets are RM10 per person," he said, adding that dinner tables worth RM1,000 and RM2,000 are also available.
