Ranau: The Umno division annual delegates meeting here unanimously passed a motion supporting both Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Datuk Seri Musa Aman to continue leading the party and the government at the national and state level, respectively. The resolution was tabled by the divisional Youth wing and seconded by the Women wing.

Youth Chief, Faez Nordin in tabling the motion commended Musa for his firmness in handling government and party issues while at the same time showing fairness to all Sabahans in terms of financial allocation and other opportunities.

His prudent handling of the State's finance has made Sabah the best financially managed state government in Malaysia and this had been recognised by the Auditor General and other global rating agencies.

Faez also credited Najib for his transformation initiatives and his various moves to empower the youth. This has increased support for Barisan Nasional among the younger generation.

Ranau Wanita Chief Datuk Amisah Yassin, in seconding the motion, said the Prime Minister had earned the support of ordinary Malaysians with his people-friendly policies and caring attitude.

"It is rare to find a very hardworking Prime Minister whose motivation to work hard is to improve the future of ordinary Malaysians, like farmers, fishermen, taxi drivers and other low-income earners," she said.

At the State level, Musa as the Chief Minister, had done an excellent job

leading both the Government and Umno, she said, adding that Sabah had gone through tremendous development under him which culminated in the State's success to attract the highest foreign investment among all the States in 2011.

"It has beaten both Selangor and Penang," said Amisah.

"The current standing of the State Financial Reserve of RM3 billion is a further testament of good financial management by the State government under the leadership of Musa," she said.

Officiating at the Delegates meeting, Ranau Umno Chief, Datuk Masidi Manjun reminded Umno members to be wary of opposition tactics of spreading half truths, lies and downright slander.

"There is a difference between myth (dongeng) and fact," he said, adding that the people should use their wisdom and common sense to distinguish between the two.

"Rumour-mongering has become a political tool of some of them in their desperation to attract the attention of the people. In fact some would readily hurl abuses and use other uncouth languages against government leaders just to be 'at par' with their fellow members in West Malaysia," said Masidi.

Masidi who is also State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister reminded Umno leaders and members here to continue to uphold the Dusunic tradition of 'beradat', humility, mutual respect and tolerance in the face of aggressive politicking by some opposition leaders.

"How we conduct ourselves as political leaders reflects our own upbringing and level of self respect.

It defines character and leadership quality in us," he said.

Umno is the biggest BN component party in Ranau with 20,650 members in 212 branches.

Slightly over half the total voters in the Ranau Parliamentary constituency are registered Umno members, nearly all Dusuns.

Later, Masidi received 82 membership applications from former Setia party members led by Roslan Sutian.

Roslan had contested against Masidi in the Karanaan State constituency in the last general election and lost his deposit.
