Mew Choo a hit among Chong Wei's family members

Kuala Lumpur: Shuttler Datuk Lee Chong Wei's selection of life partner, Wong Mew Choo, a former national shuttler, has been well received by his family members.Chong Wei's brother Lee Chong Hoon said family members, especially his parents, were happy with Chong Wei's decision to wed Mew Choo after courting for almost 12 years."My mother is very happy and the whole family is excited about the wedding because they (Chong Wei and Mew Choo) will be united after all these years," he told reporters when announcing the couple's wedding plans at Chong Wei's office in Bandar Puteri, Puchong Monday.

However, both Chong Wei and Mew Choo were not present.Chong Wei who clinched the Denmark Open men's singles title Sunday night has yet to return while Mew Choo chose not to attend without her would be husband's presence."As far as I know, Chong Wei did not have any other woman in his life except for Mew Choo although their relationship was an 'on' 'off' affair in the past," he said.Chong Hoon said the wedding reception would be held on Nov 9 (Friday) and Nov 10 (Saturday) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Ministers and corporate leaders, both here and abroad have been invited for the Nov 9 reception while the Nov 10 reception is for family members and friends, he said."Chong Wei will announce the date of the registration," he said.

Meanwhile, ten lucky fans of Chong Wei will be invited to the world number one's wedding dinner reception at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Nov 9.Chong Wei Bina Jaya Sdn Bhd's brand marketing director Sachi Choo said what the fans needed to do was to stay tuned to Chong Wei's 'Lee Chong Wei Official Fan Club' status update on his Facebook."The 10 lucky fans will be personally selected by Datuk Lee and (future bride) Wong Mew Choo," he told a press conference held to announce the couple's wedding plans, at Bandar Puteri in Puchong Monday.The reception dinner will be held on two nights-Nov 9 (Friday) for dignitaries and Nov 10 (Saturday) for Chong Wei's family and friends."In addition, fans may also know more about Chong Wei by downloading Android and IOS applications 'Lee Chong Wei'," Choo said.On another matter, he said the company was concerned about the abuse of Chong Wei's name for commercial purposes via fake web pages on the Internet.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
