Kota Kinabalu: Announcing the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates much earlier, before the 13th General Election, will allow the leadership to address dissatisfaction among those not selected. Those who have not been re-nominated should also be informed earlier to save them from embarrassment, said Puteri Umno Malaysia Chief, Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin.

"If there is dissatisfaction we will be able to detect it early and perhaps taking action against those who intend to sabotage the BN candidates will be more effective if done earlier rather than at the last moment," she said.

Rosnah said such feeling is normal for those not nominated but the question is to what extent.

"The clearest evidence that we can see is when some leaders who are at the end of the political career disregard the people for their personal interest to jump to another party with the hope that it will be able to sustain their career. Their action is really disappointing to us who believe in the BN struggle," she said.

She said boycotting or sabotaging BN candidates' election campaign might happen but she reminded that those who do so are not qualified for any party at all.

Nonetheless, she said it was up to the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to decide whether BN candidates for the 13th General Election could be announced earlier than usual.
