Kota Kinabalu: Burglars smashed a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera and removed its recording before they broke into a telecommunication shop in Lintas Plaza, here, on Thursday.They broke into the premises by smashing a hole into the wall under a staircase.A 22-year-old telco staff known as Ho said he discovered the break-in when he went to work about 8am Friday and saw several policemen at the premises.

The shop was believed to have incurred losses of more than RM20,000 in the incident.A CCTV that was installed near the staircase was damaged and no recording was found inside.
Inside the premises, a safe was forced open and RM20,000 kept inside was missing as well as three laptops and three handphones. Meanwhile, Sabah police believe the 33-year-old estate manager and his 25-year-old assistant who were kidnapped from an oil palm estate in Lahad Datu are no longer in the State.

State Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said their families have not given any feedback to the police and there is no demand for ransom by the kidnappers for the two victims so far."We are doing our best to look for the two kidnap victims and we have identified their whereabouts É we believe they might not be in Sabah," he said in a press conference here Friday.

Hamza was commenting on the kidnapping of the two men from their family-owned oil palm estate at Kg Manakayang, about 50km from Lahad Datu town, late Wednesday.Hamza had earlier said the incident happened between 3.30pm and 4.30pm while the two were working with two other workers inside the family's swiftlet house in the 1,000-acre estate.

They were dragged out and the group thereafter led the two victims on foot to a boat about two kilometres from the scene and after getting into it, immediately sped off towards the open sea.He said the two workers were left unharmed and that the kidnappers also made off with some RM24,000 worth of jewellery, wristwatches, handphones as well as two keys to two 4WD vehicles.
