Man slashed in robbery attempt in stable condition

Kota Kinabalu: A young man who managed to crawl out of his vehicle after being slashed in an attempted robbery near a bank in Inanam here Sunday night is reported to be in stable condition. According to the victim's aunt, who did not want to be named, her 26-year-old nephew had wanted to withdraw cash and decided to go alone to a bank in Inanam at 10.45pm. She said he made a withdrawal and immediately went to his car parked near the bank and had just got into the driver's seat when a man suddenly opened the door and held a knife to his neck while demanding for money.

"My nephew started to put up a fight, which resulted in him being slashed in the chest, neck and arms by the robber," she said, adding that the robber fled the scene empty-handed leaving her injured nephew lying in his blood. She said her nephew managed to crawl onto the pavement a few feet away before passing out and several minutes later passersby alerted the authorities.She he is being treated in a hospital and reported to be in stable condition.
