Kota Kinabalu: SABAH Anglers Association (SAA) President Datuk Wilfred Lingham (second from right) and Fisheries Deputy Director Jephrin Wong (right) appear pleased with the overwhelming support from the public to the last SAA formalin-free fresh fish fair for 2012, which was held in the Tanjung Aru market area, Saturday.

According to Lingham, they managed to sell 350kg of fresh fish within 45 minutes and also managed to auction off a Chinese New Year 12kg giant grouper for RM350.

Jephrin said it shows the public's awareness and demand to buy formalin-free fish and that it is a wake-up call for stakeholders to take action to stop the sale of formalin-tainted fish in the fish markets.
