Kota Kinabalu: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin said the management of the Putatan District Office should take the opportunity to step up measures to further improve the infrastructure and services in the district.

This is to support existing businesses there and at the same time encourage more investors to come into Putatan, he said.

Yahya, who is also the Assemblyman for Petagas, said this in his speech which was read out by the Agriculture and Food Industries Ministry's Permanent Secretary, Datuk Ujang Sulani, at the launching of the Harapan Menang Sdn Bhd authorised Toyota 2S Service Centre in Putatan, Saturday.

He said the opening of Toyota's second authorised service centre is a recognition by UMW Toyota of the Putatan district, which is currently undergoing rapid development and will definitely address the needs of Toyota owners.

Meanwhile, speaking at the launching, President of UMW Toyota Motor, Datuk Ismet Suki, said with the new 2S facility, the number of Toyota service centres has doubled in Kota Kinabalu.

"Customers can now conveniently enjoy better after sales facilities for their vehicles to be serviced at either Harapan Menang Sdn Bhd or at UMW Toyota Motor 3S Centre."

"The expansion also complements the efforts by UMW Toyota to upgrade its sales and after sales facilities including dealers outlets.

This new facility is an example of our commitment in providing excellent service to our customers. We will constantly improve our operations to meet customer needs and expectations.

"UMW Toyota Motor has established nine extensive network of sales and after sales outlets including dealers throughout Sabah.

With the ongoing development in the State, we foresee that there will be substantial growth in the sales of vehicles.

"Hence we will continue to invest further in network expansion to ensure our customers' demand and satisfaction will continue to be fulfilled."

With a total staff of 21 people, the new 2S centre has begun its operations on Feb 15 and aims to service more than 2,500 vehicles this year.

Also present at the launching were Chairman of UMW Toyota Motor, Tan Sri Asmat Kamaluddin, and his deputy Takashi Hibi, Mayor Datuk Abidin Madingkir, Harapan Menang Sdn Bhd Managing Director Lawrance Wong Fu Yin and Director Josephine Wong.
