Too early to initiate RCI, says Khairy

Melaka: The setting up of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to investigate the mastermind behind the intrusion by terrorists in Lahad Datu and Semporna should only be considered after the security issue in these areas has been resolved.

Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth Chief, Khairy Jamaluddin, said the more important issue right now was for the people to support the security forces in defending the country.

"I feel it is too early now to initiate the investigation (RCI).

What is important now is for us to support efforts by the security forces to complete their task.

"Those wanting the investigation to be held are the people who are disputing what is going on there," he told reporters after attending the launching of 'BN the choice of the young generation' and the Melaka State Youth and Puteri machinery by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam, here, Saturday.

He said this when asked to comment on the call by various quarters that the Government sets up the RCI to investigate the mastermind behind the intrusion by the armed terrorists.

Meanwhile, Khairy said the cyber space, which has become the 'home' for various social media applications and blogs, represents the major platform to ensure victory for the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 13th general election (GE13).

As such, Khairy, who is also Umno Youth head, said the BN Youth movement must be prepared to fight all slanderous information and lies spread by the opposition in the cyber space which had become the main source of information for the young generation currently. - Bernama
