MIRI: Police have stepped up border security surveillance in Lawas and Limbang to prevent Sulu terrorists, who are holed up in Lahad Datu, from fleeing to the coastal districts of Sarawak.
Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the security cordon was tightened at the Merapok Customs, Immigrant and Quarantine Centre in the Lawas district and the Limbang district as well as in Sindumin, Sabah near Merapok.
"Even though, there are no signs of threats in Sarawak, we are monitoring the security situation closely," he said.
Acryl was on hand to receive Lance Corporal Effendey Rosli of the Tiger Platoon, 12th Battalion of the General Operations Force, who was injured in the left leg in a gun battle with Sulu terrorists in Lahad Datu, Sabah on March 9.
