This, according to him, is vital to heighten the security level as it enables locals in rural and coastal areas as well as islands to contact the authorities when in danger.
"Not only that, they can also easily contact the relevant authorities if they come across anything fishy," added Yahya at a press conference after officiating the Majlis Pempimpin Bersama Rakyat Daerah Sailan at Platinum Plaza's compound, here.
Allaying the fears of the rakyat, he said the Government is in the process of upgrading.
"I hope the Federal Government will take action in improving the telecommunication and 'Jalur Lebar' services to a much better level."
As for the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM), Yahya said it should be established as soon as possible. "I welcome it with open arms."
"This also proves BN's prominent leadership. The Prime Minister obviously cares about the security here in Sabah."
"However, I do understand that it needs time as it involves a high amount of allocation to cater to the setting up of infrastructures and additional manpower."
According to him, it is beneficial for Sabah in the long term and even though it focuses on the east coast, people here will also benefit from it.
Yahya explained that the east coast is the main focus now as it is nearer to neighbouring countries such as Philippines and Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Putatan Umno Deputy Chief Arsit Sedi highlighted on Umno's strengths and two corporations handed over financial assistance to the Tabung Wira Lahad Datu (RM10,000 from Koperasi Pembangunan Usahasama Masyarakat Maju Sabah Berhad and RM5,000 from Permodalan Capital Berhad.)
