Tawau: Police have identified groups with potential to create chaos in several hot constituencies in the State on polling day.State Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said police had issued a warning to those groups to not violate any laws. "We have sufficient manpower to control the situation in all polling centers and the people's safety throughout the voting process is secured," he told a media conference held at the Dewan Yayasan Lau Gek Poh, here, Saturday.

Prior to this, police had identified eight Parliamentary seats and 13 State seats across the State as the "hot seats" in the 13th General Election. The "hot" parliamentary seats are Tuaran, Sandakan, Tawau, Kota Kinabalu, Beaufort, Sepanggar, Penampang and Pensiangan, while the "hot" State seats are Likas, Luyang, Api-Api, Inanam, Kepayan, Sri Tanjong, Klias, Kuala Penyu, Tanjong Papat, Karamunting, Elopura, Binkor and Merotai.

On another note, he said, the crime rate index in the State has gone down by 15.38 per cent from January up to now, while break-in cases also decreased by 4.22 per cent.

Earlier, Hamza attended the presentation of the National Sovereignty Medals to 13 security forces personnel involved in the operation to flush out Sulu militants in Lahad Datu recently.
