New Cabinet today, oath tomorrow

Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is scheduled to have an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah at Istana Negara here at noon today (Wednesday) to get approval for his new Cabinet line-up. According to the statement issued by the Prime Minister's Department Tuesday, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had agreed that ceremony to present letters of appointment, as well as for the appointed Ministers and Deputy Ministers to take the Oath of Office, Loyalty and Secrecy be held at the palace at 9.30am tomorrow (Thursday).

In the May 5 national polls, the Barisan Nasional (BN) led by Najib received the fresh mandate from the people to form the Government after winning 133 out of 222 parliamentary seats.

Najib took oath of office as Prime Minister before Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah at the Istana Negara last Monday.

Before the dissolution of Parliament on April 3, the Malaysian Cabinet comprised 28 ministers in charged of 25 ministries.

Najib also held the Finance Minister and Women, Family and Community Development Minister portfolios.
