Kota Kinabalu: Some 10 youths led by Gabungan Mahasiswa Islam Se-Malaysia President, Mohd Hisham Mohd Jais, took to the street (Jalan Gaya) here on Sunday to protest against the arrest of a fellow youth activist, Adam Adli, which they described was against human rights to voice out their opinions. Hisham said Adam was wrongfully detained on May 18 at the Jinjang Police Station in Kuala Lumpur because he invited people to attend a gathering during a forum organised by Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia on May 13.

"We as the people of Malaysia, particularly undergraduates, have the right to voice out our opinion," he said, adding that they are still waiting for an answer from the Election Commission regarding a memorandum sent to them on issues surrounding the 13th General Election.

He said police should be looking into issues surrounding the general election instead of going after human activists or undergraduates.
