366 shuttlers for Yayasan Sabah Badminton C'ship

Kota Kinabalu: A total of 366 players including Beryno Wong and other top State players from all over Sabah are set to take part in the Yayasan Sabah Series One Badminton Open Championship to be held at the Tun Adnan Sports Complex starting this Friday (May 24).The tournament which offers a total cash prize of RM4,000 is organised by Innoprise Capital Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Yayasan Sabah and organising chairman Abas Ali who is also the manager is glad that it received a huge support from the public as it augurs well with the main purpose of the tournament , which is to help the Sabah Badminton Association in promoting the sport in the State as well as to uncover young talents.

According to him, the Under-16 singles category received the most entries with 84 followed by the men doubles open with 81 and Under-12 singles (73) and men's singles open (47).

Abas said the uniqueness of the three-day competition is the junior categories which are mix-events and open to both girls and boys and he called on the public to come in force to witness all the top players as well as the up and coming in action.

The main prize in the event will be the men open singles where the winner will take home RM700 and the runner-up will receive RM400 and third place RM250.

The men doubles open winner will collect RM800 and RM 500 for the runner-up and RM 300 for third place while the junior categories will see the Under-16 champion getting RM 300 followed by RM170 and RM100 for the second and third place winners while the under 12 winner will receive RM250, RM150 for the second place and RM100 for third place.

The entrance fees for the Under-12 is RM25, Under-16 is RM30, the men singles is RM35 and the men doubles is RM60.

The closing date for the tournament is on May 16 at 6pm and the draw will be held on May 18 at 7pm at the Tun Adnan Sports Complex and all managers are urged to attend.

Entry forms can be obtained from Innprise Capital Sdn Bhd, Tun Adnan Sports Complex from 8am-5pm.
