Kota Kinabalu: Family members of two 17-year-olds allegedly assaulted by police personnel near Kg. Tajau in Tuaran have hired their lawyers. A report has also been lodged by one of the youth at the Tuaran police station on May 18 following the alleged incident.
It was learnt that family members of the duo have hired lawyers on May 17 to defend them.
It was recently reported that two youths were assaulted by two police personnel near Kg. Tajau in Tuaran between 9.30pm and 10.30pm in a dark route at Simpang Indai on May 4.
The duo, a boy and girl, were said to be on their way home after attending a wedding reception in Kg. Tambalang but decided to turn into a junction towards Kg. Sabandar to avoid a patrol car since they had no driving licence.
The boy was then allegedly assaulted by the police personnel when he failed to immediately stop his vehicle when ordered to do so, while the girl sustained injuries to her shoulder but it was not immediately established as to what caused her injuries.
