7 held for trying to smuggle in amara wood
Tawau: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) confiscated 57 amara wood which was smuggled into Terumbu Tanduk near Sipadan island on Monday.APMM captain, Wan Mod Affandi Wan Ahmad said that a skipper and six crew who were Indonesians failed to show any identification documents or their boat permit.

"After inspection, we found out that there were 57 amara wood and those on board and will be investigated under the Customs Act 1967 Export Control/Censorship."

He said that the boat was believed to be on its way from Sulawesi, Indonesia to Tawau.

He said smuggling activities should be reported to APMM Tawau at 089-752 115.
