Labuan: Labuan MCA Chairman Datuk Chin Hong Vui failed to make it to the committee of the Labuan Kwang Wei Siew Association in its elections held during the association's 43rd annual general meeting here recently.Chin, who was the Secretary-General of the association, garnered merely 49 votes out of a total of 159 votes cast, making him the biggest causality in the 160-year-old Chinese clan association.
Some attributed the result to the block voting by members supporting particular groups, while others said the loss of the MCA Chairman could be a backlash from the community for the MCA leadership's decision to refuse government positions following the party's dismal performance in the recent general election.
