Man drowns during fishing trip in Tenom

Tenom: A fishing trip by four friends ended in tragedy when one of them was swept away by strong currents at Mile 76 Sungai Padas in Kg. Pangi-Rayoh while trying to cross the river here on Saturday. The body of Idris Tamiang, 18, from Kg. Mansasoh, Kemabong was found some four kilometers from where he was last seen, on Monday at about 6.50am by villagers, with Fire and Rescue team arriving soon after to assist.

District Police Chief DSP Mazlan Lazim ruled out foul play and classified the case as sudden death.

The body has been sent to the hospital for post mortem.

Preliminary investigations showed that the boy together with three friends left their homes to go fishing at about 3pm on Saturday.
