Kota Kinabalu: CHIEF Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman (centre) posing with central committee members of Sabah Native Land Owners Association (Sanloda) led by its Chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Clarence Bongkos Malakun at the Sabah State Legislative building on Tuesday. Sanloda extended an invitation to Musa to be the patron of the association.
"We support the present State leadership and believe in the government's ability to take care of the people's welfare and issues concerning Sabah's native landowners, said Malakun.
He hoped that the issues raised through the association would be addressed quickly and effectively so as to put the rakyat, especially native landowners at ease.
He said among others, the objective of Sanloda was to provide a forum and platform for members, native landowners and developers to discuss matters affecting their native land towards the preservation and enhancing its values and status.
Meanwhile, Musa said the State Government is always attentive to native customary rights issues, including native land ownership.
Towards this end, he asked the Land and Survey Departments and Sabah Forestry Department to hold talks explaining the government's policies and programmes concerning the issues.
"A clearer understanding of the objective behind the initiatives such as the giving out of communal grants is important so that the people will not be confused and misled into thinking that the government of the day was not assisting them in land matters," he said.
