Kota Kinabalu: Kiulu Assemblyman, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai has been appointed as the new Chairman of Sabah Tourism Board (STB) replacing Datuk Seri Tengku Zainal Adlin Tengku Mahamood who will be the new Chairman of the Sabah Parks Board of Trustees.The State Government through the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment in a brief statement on Tuesday announced that both appointments would be for a period of three years effective June 1, 2013 until May 31, 2016.
In an immediate response, Bangkuai expressed gratitude to the State Government for the trust and confidence in him to head such an important body considering tourism was one of the focuses of the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman,
"It is a challenging and heavy responsibility but with the cooperation of the relevant players I believe our tourism industry will continue to flourish," he said.
Bangkuai said he had already met with Tourism, Environment and Culture Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun to discuss his tasks ahead.
"Tengku Adlin has done a lot during his time in STB and in my meeting with him we have given an undertaking to continue working as a team in further developing the tourism industry in his capacity as the new Sabah Parks Chairman," he said.
