Kota Kinabalu: Banggi Assemblyman Datuk Mijul Unaini on Tuesday labelled members of the opposition as ungrateful as they do not appreciate what the government has done for them.Under normal circumstances, when someone has done a good deed to a person, their deeds would be remembered, he said.

The Barisan Nasional (BN), he said, has done many good deeds in the past including to its former leaders.

"The BN provides aid to the blind and also to the deceasedÉeven when asked for a kidney also the BN will help," he said at the second day of 14th State Legislative Assembly sitting.

He said that when they have an interest, they praise the Barisan but when BN is no longer needed, BN is chastised as corrupt and useless.

On other developments, he urged the government to look into the plight of fishermen in his constituency.

Apparently, he said, they are fearful of going out to sea to fish due to the presence of crocodiles in the waters.

He claimed that crocodiles have attacked many fishermen in Banggi in the past.

The reptiles, he replied to Sekong Assemblyman Datuk Samsudin Yahya, were believed to be estuary or fresh water crocodile species.

But lack of food forced the crocodiles to move out from their sanctuary to the sea, he said.

However, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin, who is also Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, said he has not heard of any reports of fishermen being attacked by crocodiles thus far.

"This is the first time I heard of such threat," he said.

Kuamut assemblyman Masiung Banah said there could be a possibility that these reptiles have migrated from Sungai Kinabatangan to Pulau Banggi.

Offering sympathy to Mijul, he said the rivers in Sabah are mostly inter-connected thus enabling the crocodiles to travel great distances.
