Kunak: A single mother was left frustrated after she was given the runaround to get her BR1M assistance, in spite of having received an approval letter from the Inland Revenue Board (IRB). Djawaria Sati Remeng, 58, from Kg Cenderawasih said officers from the Tawau IRB office had instructed her to go to Kunak District Office to collect the voucher before cashing out.

However, upon reaching Kunak, Djawaria was instructed to go to the Lahad Datu district office, where officers told her that her voucher is not in their possession.

Instead, the voucher can be collected from the district office of her locality, which is in Kunak, they told her.

Disappointed, Djawaria made her way back to Kunak, only to find that her name was already crossed out as 'received' upon checking the recipient list.

"How can the person cash the assistance from the bank without my identity card.

"I am angry that I was treated by officers like a ball, ordered to Kunak, then to Lahad Datu, then Kunak again, the two destinations are not close to each other," said the headscarf seller.
