And you live to see another day.
That was what happened to a 48-year-old man who has his lucky stars to thank for when he escaped with only a minor neck injury while his 19-year-old passenger walked away unscathed, early Wednesday.
It was learnt that they were heading towards Telipok Ria from Kota Kinabalu when the man lost control of his Proton Iswara vehicle, which skidded, ran over a road divider, crashed into some bushes before slamming into the three-foot high flower vase at a roundabout in Likas Bay here.
The impact caused the flower vase to topple over the vehicle's roof before rolling and landing on its spoiler, almost making it a complete write-off in the 2.20am accident.
The flower vase was too heavy even for three men who attempted to lift it off and a crane truck had to be called in to assist.
The injured man was then rushed to the hospital by paramedics who arrived soon after.
Police as well as Fire and Rescue personnel were also at the scene.
