Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he will personally look into the specification of the assets and equipment as well as make sure that they are delivered on time.
"We have already bought some of the assets and equipment which would be delivered to us soon," he said, adding that delivery of some items might take a while as they were bought overseas.
He said this during a media conference after presenting the National Sovereignty Medals to a total of 56 security personnel and civilians for their sacrifices and courageous involvement during the "Ops Daulat" earlier this year.
On another development, he said plans are on the way to build eight police stations in locations under Esscom.
"We have received requests from State assemblymen for the setting up of police stations for the benefit of not only the local community but also to strengthen security in the area," he said, adding that they have already received allocations for that purpose.
He also said Royal Malaysian Police under his Ministry will look into the welfare aspects of police personnel and their family members.
"The challenges they face in the line of duty are very huge, especially so with the increased crime index rate. Thus, efforts to address welfare aspects are necessary because we want them to have a motivational boost," he said.
Among the aspects being looked into are the upgrading of dilapidated police stations and living quarters in the State, as well as education for their children.
His Ministry, he said, will not apply for additional allocation from the Finance Ministry for this purpose.
Instead, they have a scheme for land swaps where land owned by the Ministry, particularly the police, will be upgraded.
For education, he said, those who achieve excellent academic results will be placed in the Mara Junior Science College, adding that they will apply for a special quota for the children.
"We also plan to set up another Mara Junior Science College especially for these children," he said.
Also present were the Ministry's Management and Asset Division Secretary-General Datuk Asri Yusof and Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib.
