She received the letter of appointment on Sept. 30, which was signed by the State Secretary, Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman.
He confirmed the appointment when contacted by Daily Express. It appears like a "present" for women from Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman in view of the imminent State-level Women's Day.
She is the third woman to hold the post after Datuk Noni J. Said whose unprecedented appointment was announced by Musa in 2005 just before the State-level Women's Day celebration that year.
Asnimar, who was the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Community Development and Consumer Affairs since December 2007, is the first woman to be promoted to Deputy Permanent Secretary to the Finance Ministry in 2003.
She served as Chairperson of the Sabah Women's Advisory Council (MPWS) for three terms from 2005 to 2010.
The iconic Wisma Wanita project got off the ground during the tenure of Noni as MPWS Chairperson, and came to fruition in 2008 during Asnimar's term of office.
Taking over from Asnimar as Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Community Development and Consumer Affairs is the Director of Sabah Women's Affairs Department (Jhewa), Datuk Hjh Siti Sapoo Hj Ahok who occupied this position for 17 years.
Siti Sapoo is replaced by Hjh Patima Jafar @ Fatimah Jaafar who was the Deputy Secretary of the State Public Service Commission after serving as Director of the Science and Technology Unit under the Chief Minister's Department (JKM).
