KIULU: Tamparuli-Kiulu road users have been advised to take the Kiulu-Lawa Mandau or Telipok-Kiulu alternative routes following the landslip at Km4.8 near Kampung Rangalau Baru, here, Monday.
The Tamparuli-Kiulu road had been shut down to motorists as works to clear the debris were being done by the Public Works Department (PWD). Tuaran District Officer, Madiyem Layapan said the work would take time in view of the volume of debris especially the heap of mud due to the landslide.
According to him, the relevant authorities like fire department and police rushed to the scene immediately after getting the report and took the necessary steps to close the road for the safety of motorists. He said as a safety precaution, he had also advised the fire department and police to remain at the site.
Assemblyman, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai who was also at the site with Madiyem advised the people to comply with the instruction of the authorities for their safety.
He also commended the swift action taken by the relevant authorities in handling the situation.
The landslide is believed due to the non-stop rain over the past few days.
