Crash: China tourists hurt

Kota Kinabalu: Two pedestrians, believed to be tourists from China, sustained injuries when a Proton Saga knocked into them as they were crossing the road near Harbour City, here, Friday.

According to the driver, an elderly local, he was on his way to fetch his daughter in KK Times Square when the accident happened at about 6.30pm.

The impact caused the front windscreen of the vehicle to be damaged.

It was learnt that the victims were rushed to the hospital by paramedics who arrived moments later.

Their level of injury was not immediately known.

In TAWAU, the traffic light junction along Jalan Kuhara here was congested for close to an hour due to an accident involving a motorcycle and a Proton Iswara on Thursday.

The motorcyclist was lucky to escape with only slight injuries to his left leg and was rushed to the hospital in the 8.30pm accident.

The traffic congestion was made worse when civilians and other road users gathered at the accident scene.

District Police Chief ACP Awang Besar Dullah said the accident occurred when the Iswara collided with the motorcycle at the traffic light juntion.

It was learnt that the Iswara was heading towards the city from Jalan Kuhara while the motorcycle was heading towards Jalan Belunu from the Jalan Kuhara.

Awang urged those with information to come forward to facilitate investigations and to contact Sgt. Mustari Ersan.
