The four vehicles involved were a Toyota Wish driven by him, a Myvi driven by a 30-year-old woman, a Hilux driven by a 54-year-old man and a Toyota Mark driven by a 46-year-old man.
It was learnt that the Wish was tailing behind the Myvi and the Hilux which were heading towards the Kepayan direction when the Toyota Mark which was from the opposite direction suddenly cut into their lane.
The impact caused the Wish driver to sustain serious injuries to his right thigh and he was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Two.
The Myvi was damaged on the left side while the Hilux crashed into a tree.
In another accident, a 24-year-old man escaped injury when his Wira crashed and keeled near a fence near Tanjung Aru the same day.
It was learnt that the man was heading towards Sembulan from the Kepayan direction when the 9.10pm incident happened.
He was said to have lost control of his vehicle at a corner, causing it to skid and crash against the fence.
He was assisted by traffic personnel who arrived moments later.
